The L & N Railroad Marine Terminal played an important part in the history of the Panhandle for many decades. Goods brought into the Port of Pensacola were transferred to rail cars and taken from there to their destinations.

Restoration of the terminal was completed last year, and the terminal now serves as the office of the Northwest Region of the Florida Public Archaeology Network.
